Flash Wars
The kids are doing some crazy stuff with flash these days.
Ever since the Web Standards Project relaunched, there’s been a ridiculous series of anti-flash threads on the Web Design - L list. The zealotry is insane; to most of the people participating in the thread, flash is EVIL, period. I agree that there are major usability/ accessibility problems with many flash movies, but they are not entirely inherent (well, accessibility problems are). It can be used in a responsible, effective manner.
The whole usability vs. design debate is so tiresome. Get over it. The two can coexist. In fact I would argue that good design is inherently usable design.
