I Never Liked Football, Anyway
Anil Dash writes about the downward spiral of the now warblog Little Green Footballs and it’s sparked some discussion on his site, but I think that people are missing the real point here. It doesn’t really matter whether or not he believes what he writes, whether or not he’s pandering to the masses. The fact is, his writing is xenophobic and patently racist. And that’s inexcusable. The fact that it’s wildly popular is even more disturbing.
I’m not sure that the description of his weblog as mildly political, middle-left
ever held true. Criticizing G-Dub doesn’t make you a lefty; George W. Bush is an idiot whether you’re right, left or center. It certainly doesn’t ring true now. The content is inflamatory and inherently racist; I’m not sure it gets much further right.
Bring back the rest of your weblog
? No thanks. The writer has shown, whether or not they’re “genuine,” his true stripes, and they’re not pretty. This is one weblog that I will never read again.
