Palm Annoyances
Handspring finally released supported desktop software for OS X, but they seem to have overlooked a few crucial things, like providing any documentation whatsoever. There’s a link to download the user guide, but there’s no Palm Desktop 4.0 user guide in sight—plenty for Treo, but not really what I’m looking for.
Installation and initial synch go smoothly, with a soft reset following the Palm OS upgrade, but when, on the second and third synchs, I was prompted to reset again, I got a little suspicious. Checking the hotsynch log, I noticed that Palm 3.1 was installing every time.
In the absence of any documentation from Palm, I was on my own to figure out that one has to manually remove the Palm OS Updates folder from /Applications/Palm/ so that the operating system isn’t reinstalled every time one performs a hotsynch. Very nice.
