Concrete Insanity
Skated the bowl at Vans last night with a couple of guys from Skatopia. They were insanely good—frontside roll-in at the shallow corner, more like a carve than a roll-in, to frontside 50-50s the entire length of the shallow end, around the hip, into the deep end at the end of the hip; smith grind reverts in the deep end; layback grinds in the deepend, starting on the back wall, all the way around the corner. When they took a run, which was pretty much every other time, it was a constant string of hoots from the rest of us.
As for me, I’m finally finding a decent frontside line in the deepend—actually hit the tile last night. It was pretty satisfying, and egged on by the extra energy from the Skatopia guys. I had started out the session feeling pretty tired. They showed up 20 minutes into it, and everything changed. Amazing.
