Moveable Type Search Interface Problem
From the Movable Type message boards:
On the Search Entries screen in the Moveable Type system, entering a search term and hitting Return to submit the form results in replacing the search term with an empty string. This behaviour is extremely dangerous. The results screen does display a list of modified entries, but clicking on an entry, modifying it and then hitting the Back button posts the form data again, and displays only the entry you just modified, which has your term replaced yet again.
The Search form and the Replace form really should be broken up into two different forms, even though it would display redundant information. The danger of accidentally replacing by hitting Return, which is a very natural way of submitting a form for many users, far outweighs the benefits of the screen space saved by using a single form.
Overall the Movable Type system is pretty good on usability. This is one of those things where my haste to find something yielded in a semi-disastrous result. Fortunately, I was able to fix the problem (I think), but it took a bit of work. This is definitely something that should be fixed.
