In the Shop, Out of Commission

I’ve got one complaint with Apple: getting your machine fixed is ridiculously slow. After a week of trying to figure out the the hell is wrong with my iMac, I finally broke down and brought it into the shop, where my suspicions of a bad hard drive were confirmed. It’s still under warranty (by 9 days), but the thing is, I brought it in last Thursday, and it’s still not fixed—the drive’s on order.

I compare this with my experience with Dell. I sent my laptop in last year with about 10 bad pixels in the display, nothing huge, just a bit annoying. I was pleasantly surprised to get it back a day and a half after sending it off.

Now if Dell can turn around a repair in a matter of hours, why does it take more than a week to get a similar scale repair done to my mac?

OK, so it was less than a week. I got it back today, but still…

Really? I’ve actually noticed Apple’s service to be optimum. I’m using a version 10.3.4 iMac right now, but I have a blueberry that I took in the other day to get it’s CD-drive fixed and a couple other things brushed up. While I expected for it to be done in a couple days, I got a call later that day saying it was ready, and sure enough it was back to working at full-speed (for it, at least). So I have always been pleased with their service. Off the subject, nice site you have going on here. In case you visit mine, which I wouldn’t recommend, I just got it going and it’s my first site so it’s pretty rough and basic. It’s mostly an experiment in making a web site and in using HTML, which I have just started to learn. Also, nothing big but in your “Rules” you have a small grammar error. “If you have enter a URL” doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. That’s all, nice site once again.
