Here’s an applescript to get the dimensions of an image from the finder.

set imagePath to quoted form of POSIX path of imageFile
end tell
tell application "Image Capture Scripting"
set image_ to open imageFile
set {width_, height_} to {width, height} of image_
close image_
end tell
