Should I feel guilty about not writing anything meaningful in three months or so?
Probably not.
I’ve had tons going on in my life, with Simon, the move, getting roped back into teaching, and a million projects around the house, big and little. It’s amazing how little this whole website thing can begin to mean when there’s real life to be lived…
The stream of visitors has been endless. Every week, more people come to visit Simon. We’ve finally given up pretending that anyone actually wants to see us. Parents come out to Ann Arbor 2 or 3 times a week; we go see them every few weeks. We have baby clothes coming out of our ears—at least two full dressers worth.
I’ve ridden the four-wheeled toy exactly twice since Simon was born: once at the 9bowl, once this past weekend at Mason, where it decided to pour rain in the midst of an overcrowded snake session. Tim drove up from Akron on my promises of good weather and teaching my little sister, visiting from Washington state, to skate. Oh well, wrong on both counts.
But even so, things have been really good. I love being a dad. Simon is incredibly cool. At two months old (as of yesterday/today (no 31st in September)) he amazes me every day with his smiles and laughs and prelingual observations.
