Corporate Skate Still Sucks
It’s official—Vans’ Novi skatepark is closing by the end of August, just two years after opening.
Vans has been on a steady downward spiral. At one time, Vans shoes were made in the US, which was a key point in their marketing. I can’t count how many “Vans: Made in USA” stickers I had when I was younger. Then they dropped that whole thing and sent production overseas, probably, I’m guessing, around the time they went public. Then they got bought out in June by VF Apparel. Running skateparks clearly doesn’t fit into VF’s corporate strategy, so they’re closing them all.
Fuckers.
