Cheney Crossed a Line

In the New York Times, Nicolle Devenish, the communications director for G-dub’s re-election campaign offers up this gem, justifying Cheney’s claim that the U.S. is more likely to be hit with a terrorist attack if Kerry is elected:

“It’s a central argument of this election: the policies of Bush-Cheney will keep us safer. Take away the fascination with the way he said what he said. It’s a discussion about pre-emption.”

And she’s right—it’s about pre-emption, but the issue is that pre-emption is not only illegal, but completely immoral and isolationist. It’s about the hot-headed cowboy attitude of this administration that sees fit to ignore and distort facts in order to justify its imperial aspirations. It’s about the killing of more than a thousand American soldiers and countless thousands of Iraqi civilians in an extra-constitutional war waged so that the administration’s cronies can make a buck.

Has Cheney crossed a line? I think so. He essentially places blame for any terrorist attack that occurs after November 2 on the electorate. G-dub and party is absolved of any responsibility once that liberal girlie-man Kerry is elected. Never mind that we’re led to believe that a terrorist attack is imminent before the election. Never mind that the party conventions were targets (hah). Never mind that this administration was in power when September 11th happened.

If you’re the conspiracy theory type, kinda makes you wonder who Bush and Cheney are in bed with, who they’re paying off to guarantee that there won’t be another attack while they’re in office.

Interesting enough, on iTunes: Stars and Stripes of Corruption from the album “Frankenchrist” by Dead Kennedys
